Working with Couples
As an Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) for couples, I help to rebuild the attachment bond and loving connections that may have been disrupted over the course of the relationship. Couples learn new ways to communicate their fears and needs and renew their ability to be emotionally responsive. Once the bond has been re-established they can together tackle other concerns they may have such as finances, parenting, work stressors and their sex life.
Working with Families
I use a wide variety of therapy models including Attachment Based Family Therapy, Client-Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I work flexibly in combining sessions with the family as a whole, parents alone, parent-child pairs, and separate individual sessions with the child or teen. Families can greatly enhance their children’s progress by increasing healthy communication and engaging in the therapeutic process together.
I enjoy helping individuals move past life’s hurdles, so they can achieve their goals. Whether a person is facing depression, anxiety, grief over a loss, relationship problems, or is having difficulty with a life decision, I find the most important ingredient in achieving change is forming a healthy therapeutic connection. Together we can navigate through the emotions and thoughts that are getting in their way. Individuals can feel a renewed sense of purpose, competence and wholeness.
I work with Give an Hour and the Pro-bono Counseling Project to provide a limited number of free or reduced-fee therapy sessions, primarily to people from communities of color.
“Your continued volunteer service has given our military family access to your unmatched expertise otherwise unattainable to us. My wife and I are constantly saying how we wish we would’ve found you sooner. Your skillful approach to helping our family has saved us from a lot of turmoil. Your caring is obvious and so very much felt and reciprocated.” ~ From a pro-bono client
